Bottoms-Up Carry
Carry · full · advanced
How to do it
Hold a kettlebell upside down by the handle at shoulder height with the elbow tight to the ribs, crush the handle hard so the bell stays balanced, and walk without letting it tip.
Muscles worked
Primary: full · Also works: forearms, shoulders, core
Equipment
Kettlebells
Common mistakes
- Going too heavy — if the bell tips on the first three steps, halve the weight
- Letting the elbow drift away from the ribs, which makes balancing the bell impossible
- Watching the bell the whole walk instead of looking ahead and walking in a straight line
Variations
- Static bottoms-up hold before walking
- Bottoms-up overhead carry
- Both hands bottoms-up at the rack
