Star Jump
Cardio & Conditioning · full · intermediate
Start
FinishHow to do it
Start in a low squat with the hands near the feet, then explode upward throwing the arms and legs out wide into a star shape, and land softly back in the low squat.
Muscles worked
Primary: full · Also works: quads, glutes, shoulders
Equipment
No equipment
Common mistakes
- Landing stiff-legged instead of absorbing the landing by bending knees and hips
- Letting the knees cave inward on the landing
- Only half-opening the limbs, which makes it a plain squat jump rather than a star jump
Variations
- Squat with an overhead reach and no jump
- Lower the squat depth to change the demand
- Work 20 seconds on, 40 off for six rounds
