How to do it

Hold a high plank with hands under the shoulders and drive one knee diagonally toward the opposite elbow, then switch legs in a steady rhythm without the hips bouncing upward.

Muscles worked

Primary: full · Also works: obliques, core, shoulders

Equipment

No equipment

Common mistakes

  • Letting the hips pike up on every knee drive instead of keeping a flat line from head to heel
  • Driving the knee under the body without rotating, which removes the oblique work entirely
  • Creeping the hands forward so the shoulders end up behind the wrists

Variations

  • Slow tempo with a two-second hold at the knee
  • Hands elevated on a bench
  • Alternate 20 seconds cross-body with 20 seconds straight-on
