Pull · back · beginner

Doorway Row — start positionStart
Doorway Row — end positionFinish
similar: Inverted Row

How to do it

Grip both sides of a solid door frame at chest height, walk your feet toward the frame and lean back with straight arms, then pull your chest to the frame by driving your elbows past your ribs.

Muscles worked

Primary: back · Also works: biceps, rear delts

Equipment

No equipment

Common mistakes

  • Standing too upright, so bodyweight never actually loads the arms — walk the feet forward until the lean is obvious
  • Pulling with the hands and finishing with the elbows still in front of the torso
  • Letting the hips pike back instead of holding a straight line from ear to ankle

Variations

  • Single-arm doorway row holding one side of the frame
  • Feet further forward for a lower lean angle and more load
