Pinch two smooth plates together between the thumb and fingers of each hand, stand tall and walk until the grip is about to fail, then set the plates down rather than dropping them.

Common mistakes
- Letting the plates rest against the thigh, which supports the load and removes the pinch
- Using ribbed or handled plates, which gives the fingers a hook and defeats the purpose
- Dropping the plates at failure, which is dangerous for feet and for the plates
