Barbell Wrist Curl
Pull · forearms · beginner
Start
FinishHow to do it
Sit with your forearms resting on your thighs and hands just past the knees, palms up, then let the bar roll to your fingertips before curling it back with the wrists only.
Muscles worked
Primary: forearms
Equipment
Barbell, Dumbbells
Common mistakes
- Lifting the forearms off the thighs so the elbows do the work
- Skipping the fingertip roll at the bottom, which halves the working range
- Loading it heavy enough to jam the wrists — this is a small joint doing a small movement
Variations
- Behind-the-back barbell wrist curl standing
- Single-arm dumbbell wrist curl
Can't do this one? Swap it for
Take care: ABROFIT automatically removes this movement for anyone who has flagged a wrist problem. If that's you, use one of the swaps above and speak to a physio before loading it.
