Lie flat with hands tucked under the hips, press the lower back firmly into the floor, and lower both straight legs only as far as you can hold that flat back, then raise them back to vertical.

Common mistakes
- Lowering the legs to the floor while the lower back arches into a bridge — stop where the back lifts
- Dropping the legs fast and using the bounce to throw them back up
- Letting the knees bend on the way down to cheat the lever
Variations
- Bend the knees to 90 degrees to shorten the lever
- One leg at a time
- Pause three seconds at the lowest controlled point
