Set the seat so your armpits sit at the top of the pad and the elbows line up with the machine's pivot, then curl the handles up and lower them until the arms are nearly straight.

Common mistakes
- Leaving the elbows above or below the pivot, which makes the resistance curve fight your arm
- Letting the handles crash back and jolting the elbow joint
- Lifting the upper arms off the pad at the sticking point
