Sit in the leg press with only the balls of the feet on the bottom edge of the platform and the legs almost straight, then press the sled by pointing the toes and let the ankles flex back slowly.

Primary: calves
Equipment
Machines, Full gym
Common mistakes
- Leaving the safety catches engaged or the knees locked hard, which is how this one goes wrong
- Placing the feet too high so they slip off the platform edge mid-set
- Bending and straightening the knees to move the sled instead of moving only at the ankle
Variations
- One leg at a time
- Toes in or out to shift the emphasis across the calf
