Stand side-on to a knee-high step, place the near foot flat on it and drive through that whole foot to stand up on the step without pushing off the floor with the other leg.

Common mistakes
- Bouncing off the floor with the trailing foot, which lets the bottom leg do most of the work
- Pushing through the toes of the stepping foot instead of the mid-foot and heel
- Dropping back down without control rather than lowering the floor foot slowly
