Band Calf Raise
Squat · calves · beginner
Start
FinishHow to do it
Sit with the legs straight and loop a band around the balls of both feet holding the ends, then push the toes away against the band until the ankles are fully pointed and return slowly.
Muscles worked
Primary: calves
Equipment
Resistance bands
Common mistakes
- Pulling with the arms as the feet push, which hides how little the calves are actually doing
- Letting the band snap the ankles back rather than resisting the return
- Cutting the push short instead of reaching a fully pointed ankle each rep
Variations
- One foot at a time
- Standing version with the band under the feet and over the shoulders
