How to do it

Kick up to a handstand with your heels resting on a wall and hands about shoulder-width, then bend the elbows until the top of your head lightly touches the floor and press back to full lockout.

Muscles worked

Primary: shoulders · Also works: triceps, upper chest, core

Equipment

No equipment

Common mistakes

  • Arching the lower back into a banana shape instead of squeezing the glutes and ribs down
  • Letting the hands drift too wide, which cuts the range and stresses the shoulder joint
  • Bouncing off the head at the bottom rather than controlling the touch

Variations

  • Negative-only handstand push-up
  • Wall walk to a handstand hold
