Single-Leg Leg Press
Squat · quads · intermediate
Start
FinishHow to do it
Place one foot in the centre of the platform, unrack the sled and lower until the knee reaches roughly 90 degrees, then press back without locking the knee out hard.
Muscles worked
Primary: quads · Also works: glutes, hamstrings
Equipment
Machines, Full gym
Common mistakes
- Placing the foot off to the side of the platform, which loads the sled unevenly and twists the knee
- Letting the hips rotate and the lower back lift off the pad at the bottom
- Going too deep on one leg so the pelvis tucks under and the lumbar spine rounds
Variations
- Foot slightly higher on the platform to share load with the glute
- Three-second eccentric
