Lie chest-down on a bench set to about 45 degrees with dumbbells hanging straight below your shoulders, then raise them out to the sides to shoulder height.

Common mistakes
- Letting the chest lift off the pad to sneak into a bent-over row
- Pulling the elbows back behind the body, which converts the raise into rear delt work
- Using the same load as a standing raise — the chest support removes all cheating
