Strap the load around your hips on a belt squat machine, hold the handles lightly for balance, then squat to depth with the spine completely unloaded and stand back up.

Common mistakes
- Hauling yourself up on the handles rather than using them only to stay balanced
- Setting the belt on the waist instead of low across the hips, where the pull should sit
- Standing too far forward on the platform so the load swings rather than tracking straight down
