similar: Dumbbell Rear Lunge

How to do it

Stand on a band with the front foot and hold the ends at shoulder height, then step the other foot back into a lunge and drive through the front heel to stand.

Muscles worked

Primary: quads · Also works: glutes, hamstrings

Equipment

Resistance bands

Common mistakes

  • Letting the band tension round the upper back instead of keeping the chest up
  • Stepping back at an angle so the feet end up on the same line and balance is lost
  • Standing up by pushing off the rear toes rather than the front heel

Variations

  • Hold the band at the chest instead of the shoulders for less tension
  • Add a knee drive at the top
