Band Leg Extension
Squat · quads · beginner
Start
FinishHow to do it
Anchor a band low behind you, hook it around one ankle while seated on a chair, then straighten the knee fully against the band and lower slowly.
Muscles worked
Primary: quads
Equipment
Resistance bands
Common mistakes
- Swinging the whole leg from the hip instead of moving only at the knee
- Stopping short of full lockout, which is exactly where the band tension is highest and the quad works hardest
- Letting the band snap the leg back down instead of resisting the return
Variations
- Hold the locked-out position for two seconds
- Do both legs together with the band around both ankles
