Press one dumbbell overhead, then lower it behind the head by bending only that elbow, keeping the upper arm vertical beside the ear, and press back to lockout.

Common mistakes
- Letting the whole arm drift out to the side instead of staying beside the ear
- Leaning the torso away from the working arm
- Bracing the working elbow with the free hand so hard that the free arm lifts the weight
