Kettlebell Windmill
Core · obliques · advanced
Start
FinishHow to do it
Press a kettlebell overhead and lock the arm straight, turn the feet roughly 45 degrees away from that arm, then push the same-side hip out and slide the free hand down the inside of the front leg while your eyes stay on the bell.
Muscles worked
Primary: obliques · Also works: shoulders, hamstrings, core
Equipment
Kettlebells
Common mistakes
- Bending sideways through the waist instead of pushing the hip out and hinging
- Letting the overhead arm drift forward or the elbow soften at any point
- Loading heavy before you can do the whole path with no weight at all
Variations
- Bodyweight windmill with the arm raised empty
- Bottom-hand version with the bell in the low hand
- Half windmill stopping at knee height
