Bodyweight Good Morning
Hinge · hamstrings · beginner
Start
FinishHow to do it
Stand with hands behind the head and knees softly bent, push the hips straight back until the torso is close to parallel with the floor and you feel the hamstrings load, then stand by driving the hips forward.
Muscles worked
Primary: hamstrings · Also works: glutes, lower back
Equipment
No equipment
Common mistakes
- Squatting down instead of hinging back, so the knees bend and the hamstrings never stretch
- Letting the lower back round once the hamstrings run out of length — stop at that point instead
- Hyperextending at the top and leaning back rather than finishing standing upright with the glutes squeezed
Variations
- Hold a light band across the shoulders
- Three-second lowering phase
