Band Romanian Deadlift
Hinge · hamstrings · beginner
Start
FinishHow to do it
Stand on the middle of a band holding one end in each hand, keep the knees slightly bent and push the hips back so the hands travel down the thighs until the hamstrings load, then stand by driving the hips forward.
Muscles worked
Primary: hamstrings · Also works: glutes, lower back
Equipment
Resistance bands
Common mistakes
- Bending the knees more as you descend, which turns it into a squat and takes the hamstrings out
- Letting the band pull the shoulders forward so the upper back rounds
- Standing too far off the band so tension disappears at the bottom where the stretch matters most
Variations
- Step wider on the band for more tension
- Pause two seconds in the stretched position
