similar: Romanian Deadlift

How to do it

Hold a kettlebell in both hands in front of the hips, soften the knees and push the hips straight back so the bell slides down the thighs, stopping when the hamstrings are fully loaded, then stand tall.

Muscles worked

Primary: hamstrings · Also works: glutes, lower back, grip

Equipment

Kettlebells

Common mistakes

  • Letting the bell hang away from the body rather than skimming the legs on the way down
  • Turning the top of the rep into a backward lean instead of a tall standing lockout
  • Bending the knees to reach the floor, which is a deadlift, not an RDL

Variations

  • Single kettlebell in one hand for an anti-rotation challenge
  • Two kettlebells at the sides

Can't do this one? Swap it for

Take care: ABROFIT automatically removes this movement for anyone who has flagged a lower back problem. If that's you, use one of the swaps above and speak to a physio before loading it.
