Kettlebell Single-Leg Deadlift — start positionStart
Kettlebell Single-Leg Deadlift — end positionFinish

How to do it

Set a kettlebell on the floor in front of the standing foot, hinge over that leg with the free leg extending back, grip the handle, then stand by driving the hip forward.

Muscles worked

Primary: hamstrings · Also works: glutes, core

Equipment

Kettlebells

Common mistakes

  • Reaching down with a rounded back rather than hinging the hip and letting the torso travel as one piece
  • Letting the bell swing outside the line of the foot at the bottom
  • Putting the free foot down every rep, which removes the single-leg demand

Variations

  • Start with the bell on a low box to shorten the range
  • Hold the bell in the same-side hand

Can't do this one? Swap it for

Take care: ABROFIT automatically removes this movement for anyone who has flagged a lower back problem. If that's you, use one of the swaps above and speak to a physio before loading it.
