JM Press
Push · triceps · advanced
Start
FinishHow to do it
With a close grip on a bench, lower the bar toward the base of the throat while letting the elbows travel forward, then press it back on the same diagonal path.
Muscles worked
Primary: triceps · Also works: chest, front delts
Equipment
Barbell, Full gym
Common mistakes
- Treating it as a close-grip bench and lowering straight down to the chest
- Loading it heavy before the groove is learned — the bar path sits over the throat
- Letting the elbows flare instead of staying tucked and travelling forward
Variations
- Smith machine JM press
- Dumbbell JM press
