Cable Romanian Deadlift
Hinge · hamstrings · intermediate
Start
FinishHow to do it
Attach a straight bar to a low pulley, step back until the cable is taut, then hinge the hips back letting the bar travel down the thighs and stand by driving the hips into the cable.
Muscles worked
Primary: hamstrings · Also works: glutes, lower back
Equipment
Cables, Full gym
Common mistakes
- Standing too close so the cable goes slack at the top and the tension disappears
- Letting the cable pull the torso forward at the bottom instead of holding the brace
- Bending the arms to pull the bar in, which turns it into a row
Variations
- Single-leg cable RDL with a D-handle
- Pause two seconds under tension at the bottom
